Laura Hochheim Thomé is a second-year Master of Global Affairs (MGA) student at the University of Toronto, originally from Brazil. Her professional journey spans the public sector, NGOs, and international organizations, focusing on the protection and meaningful participation of forced migrants and refugees, particularly in Latin America. Laura served as a human rights intern at the Committee on Migrants and Refugees in the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), where she contributed to the development of a state policy on forced migration. She also worked at the NGO CIBAI Migrations in Porto Alegre (Brazil), assisting with temporary and permanent residence procedures and asylum-seeking protocols.
